Five Chimneys: The Story of Auschwitz - Olga Lengyel
A very difficult book to read because it is so honest, and Olga holds nothing back. She is now deceased, and her home has since been turned into the Memorial Library in New York City, where each summer, 24 teachers from around the country are given fellowships to attend the Memorial Library Summer Seminar on Holocaust Education, in the hopes that we teachers will learn the larger lessons of the Holocaust and pass them on to others. The book/movie Sophie's Choice is based in part on Olga's story.
