Full of sarcasm and snark, politics and profanity, I neither loved nor hated reading Fobbit. I laughed aloud once, but other than that, I had no real reaction. Maybe it's too cynical for my tastes. Maybe it's because I recently learned that I lost a student to an IED in OEF, and I can't appreciate Abrams' brand of war humor just yet. Whatever the reason, I thought it was okay, but that's all. Perhaps I would have enjoyed it more if I had an emotional connection to at least one of the characters, but I didn't.
